Unit 2 of “A Vocabulary of Faith” focuses on the revelation of God in Jesus Christ. This unit explores both who Jesus is through Jesus’s attributes and actions, as well as our response as followers of Jesus Christ.
Session 1: Christ as God-with-Us – Incarnation
Session 2: Christ as Redeemer – Savior
Session 3: Christ as Atonement – Sin and Forgiveness
Session 4: Christ as Teacher – Discipleship
Session 5: Christ as Lord – Worship
Session 6: Christ as Restoration – New Life
How do we articulate what we believe fluently and in ways that clearly demonstrate our faith to the world? How do we live and move and have our being in ways that embody our deepest Christian commitments? These questions guided the creation of this curriculum.
Created in partnership with the Presbyterian Outlook and the Center for Excellence in Christian Education, this curriculum frees people to live their Reformed faith by remembering, reclaiming and rearticulating what we believe about who God is and who we are so the patterns of our lives embody the liberating love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Designed to be used by small groups of adults either in person or virtually, each of the six sessions includes a video featuring multiple perspectives on the lesson topic, an outline for an hour-long class (adaptable to an hour and a half) and appendices with teaching helps and Bible passages. Whether for Sunday school or a mid-week Bible study, this curriculum invites participants to engage with Scripture, Reformed theology and their own faith journey.
The first unit in the Vocabulary of Faith series, Unit 1: Testimony, is available for purchase through the Presbyterian Outlook. Unit 1 and Unit 2 can be taught in sequence or as individual sessions.
